Under-mount sinks are less common but more attractive. Under-mount means the sink is installed below the countertop, yielding a smoother finish. For obvious reasons, under-mount sinks are common in natural stone countertops. Smooth finish means more sanitation, but it also means more cost. Without a lip to support it, under-mount sinks require stands or braces for support; also, under-mount sinks require special fitting—all cost intensive decisions. But, if appearance and sanitation mean more than cost and storage, an under-mount sink’s for you…
Undermount Sink Vs Top Mount: What Makes The Actual Difference? Countertops, of course, come with the territory. But have you ever worried about what to do once you install the countertops? Then it’s time to install the sink. But all the sinks are not alike. When it comes to remodeling of the sink, most of the house owners prefer either of the two. Whether it`s an under-mount or a top-mount sink. Though at first, the drop-in type was the only game in the residential consumer market. But nowadays under mounts have become more competitive. The difference between the two is with respect to their appearance and usability. So that you can decide which one is perfect for your kitchen, let’s know the differences first.
Install Top-Mount Sink: Position the sink`s cutting template on the surface of the counter. Both front and rear edges of the template should be square with the countertop. Check the underside of the counter for cabinet clearance. Look for any obstruction that can interfere with plumbing once the sink is in place. Tape the template in place and trace the cutting line with a pencil. Drill a 1/2-inch hole inside one corner of the cutout section outlined by the template. Place a strip of masking tape along the inside and outside of each cutout line. The tape protects the countertop surface from scratches while cutting. Insert the saber saw`s laminate blade into the pilot hole and cut along the template lines.
Even with a unique model and appearance, the sink does not only belong to the restaurant or cafe; you can bring this unique concept into your home. Are you interested in trying?
